Role Summary
The Maintenance Tech II is responsible for performing audits, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of automated material handling system components within the Fulfillment Center, with minimal guidance. The role follows company guidelines for general work practices, performs duties in accordance with safe work procedures, takes initiative to coordinate maintenance activities to ensure safe and satisfactory completion of all tasks, and assists the Maintenance Tech III with product flow and operational goals to support Fulfillment Operations.
Responsibilities- Assists other technicians and mechanics in the repair and maintenance of equipment, diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings and diagnostic tools.
- Performs audits, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of automated material handling system components within the Fulfillment Center independently or with minimal guidance.
- Has experience with 3‑phase systems up to 480 VAC including repair, installation, and maintenance.
- Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment according to safety and quality procedures.
- Provides resolutions to mechanical, technical, and controls issues.
- Troubleshoots and repairs key components for the Fulfillment Center.
- Participates in cleaning conveyor systems and maintenance areas as appropriate.
- Completes work orders and other written or computer‑based documents according to established procedures.
- Works at heights of 40 ft or more as required.
- Assists with maintaining inventory of company‑supplied tools.
- Is willing and able to be certified on powered industrial equipment.
- Performs general facility maintenance such as light bulb replacement, office furniture relocation, plumbing, electrical repairs, etc.
- Completes other duties as instructed by supervision or management.
- High School Diploma or GED; experience and/or military service will also be considered.
- 3‑5 years of related experience in mechanical troubleshooting, technical troubleshooting, maintenance and/or installation.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting mechanical and technical issues.
- Excellent hand and eye coordination.
- Ability to read, recognize, write, and follow applicable numbers and directives in English.
- Basic math skills for accurate inventory management.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends as necessary.
- Command of safety procedures, including lock‑out/tag‑out.
- Frequent bending, lifting, walking, pushing, pulling freight, and standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures occasionally.
- Skilled in safely using manual and electronic equipment to transport cartons or other items.
- Strong electrical background with knowledge of low‑voltage controls and PLCs.
- Prior experience with conveyor and/or sortation systems.
- Experience in strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting.
- Experience with preventative/predictive maintenance modification and upgrade support installation.
- AAS in an engineering‑related field or equivalent experience.
- Certificates or licenses such as Journeyman or Master Electrician, CMRP and/or CMRT.
- Ability to troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and external I/O devices.
- CMMS experience.
- Prior experience with Allen Bradley and/or Siemens products.
- Network troubleshooting knowledge is a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience managing outside vendors, customers, and business partners.
- Knowledge of current building vendors, software, platforms, and systems.
- Previous industry‑based experience.
- This position is not remote.
