Creating a Better, Safer Kentucky. The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes;
and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.
The Plumber Licensed Supervisor at Northpoint Training Center performs the duties of a Master Plumber as well as provides supervision over employees and inmates. This job requires an individual licensed as a Master Plumber by the Department of Housing, Buildings, and Construction. Applicants should possess the ability to apply plumbing skills and instruct inmates in the completion of plumbing tasks and the operation of plumbing tools and equipment.
The occupant of this position will use proficient troubleshooting skills to address a variety of plumbing repairs and new installations as well as sufficient computer skills required to address institutional work orders.
- Supervises and assists offenders in daily maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing facilities and fixtures while maintaining a safe and secure working environment.
- Alters and maintains existing plumbing systems and fixtures as well as plan any necessary installations of new systems and fixtures to meet institutional needs.
- Responsible for the inspection, determination, and acquisition of all inputs, materials and tools necessary to complete alterations and repairs of institutional plumbing systems.
- Completes daily tool inventories, addresses institutional work orders, and prepares offender time sheets.
- Orders parts and materials necessary to complete assigned institutional plumbing repairs and new installations.
- Maintains an institutional service vehicle used to address facility repairs and installations.
- Prepares reports and attends trainings as required to best meet the needs of the institution.
