About the Role
We are seeking a full‑time Forklift Field Service Technician / Mechanic to support our customers in Queens. This position is first shift, Monday‑Friday, hourly (no flat rate).
Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Diagnose and repair all forms of customer equipment.
- Complete each repair job in a timely, efficient and professional manner.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Work and manage workloads independently.
- Properly complete and submit all required paperwork.
- Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance, including being ready for work at the designated start time.
- Previous mechanic repair experience (forklift, heavy equipment, diesel, automotive), including military, guard or reserve experience with MOS/NEC codes 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M or CM.
- Strong working knowledge of electric and liquid propane units.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and ability to possess own tools.
- Proficiency with computer programs: HYPASS, Hyster TKC training software, Hyster contact management system.
- Intermediate language skills: ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Basic mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide with units of money and measurement.
- Intermediate reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
- Stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands regularly; talk/hear frequently; sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
- No special vision requirements.
- Lift up to 10 pounds regularly; 11‑25 pounds frequently; 26‑100+ pounds occasionally.
- Frequent bending and working from a prone position on or under equipment.
- Work near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes or airborne particles; weather conditions; wet or humid conditions; extreme cold and heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
$20.00 to $45.00 per hour (base pay only, benefits and potential bonuses not included). Overall compensation determined by location, skillset, education, and experience.
