* Job Summary:

** This is skilled mechanical work. Primary responsibilities include the maintenance and repair of gasoline, hybrid, electric (EV), and light-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. Work is performed independently or with team members. Supervision, productivity, and performance evaluations are received from a Lead Mechanic, Supervisor, or Manager.

* Diagnose and make repairs on vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension systems
* Read and comprehend written and electric repair and wiring schematics
* Diagnose and repair standard vehicle and equipment wiring, components, and lighting, including component removal and replacement
* Diagnose and repair complex emergency vehicle wiring, components, and lighting, including component removal and replacement
* Diagnose and repair automotive and various-sized trailer brakes, including component removal and replacement
* Respond to road calls and work in the field, on occasion, as required
* Update knowledge by reading and participating in educational opportunities
* Order parts and replace inventory following City policy and protocols as needed
