Location: Northern

The Mechanic performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment. The Mechanic ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs preventive maintenance and ensures the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during an inspection.
  • Performs inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, AC, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Advises supervisor immediately if additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation

Starting pay range: $22.40 - $29.50/hour. Actual pay may vary based on Casey’s assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.

Requirements

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong knowledge of a technical or specialized field, such as truck mechanics. Skill in operating various mechanical equipment and hand tools, such as wrench and screwdriver. Strong knowledge of all shop equipment and tools. Ability to follow all motor vehicle rules and regulations involved in the safe operation of all vehicles owned by Casey's.

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Minimum of three years of experience performing maintenance/minor vehicle repairs including brake systems. Valid Driver’s License. Maintains certifications on brake repairs and adjustments. Upholds a safe driving record.

Work is typically performed inside a regular service setting. Some duties are performed outdoors and may require travel. Hours for this position are 2:00am - 10:30am Monday - Friday. Must be available after-hours for calls to repair equipment.
