Performs troubleshooting and repair activities on mechanical equipment, including but not limited to pumps, valves, turbines, plant piping, diesel engines, and all associated subsystems. Works to plant procedures, permits, drawings, work instructions, policies, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements.
EDUCATION- High School/GED or equivalent (Required)
- Associates degree in a related mechanical field (science, mathematics, technology, or equivalent) (Preferred)
- Without the above requirements, relevant experience may be considered.
- Mechanic (AOV Journeyman)
- minimum of 3 years as a Mechanic, with at least 1 year Air Operated Valve (AOV) experience (Required).
- 3 years of Air Operated Valve (AOV) experience (Preferred).
Performs testing and repair functions on mechanical equipment to ensure equipment meets vendor and plant technical specifications. Works to plant procedures, policies, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements.
- Performs all aspects of maintenance and repair on a wide variety of pumps, including removal, installation, alignment, seal rework, bearing and shaft replacement, lubrication, inspection, and troubleshooting.
- Performs all aspects of valve maintenance and repair on all types and sizes of valves, including removal, installation, teardown, rebuild, seal, seat and disc replacement, lubrication, inspection, and troubleshooting.
- Performs all aspects of piping maintenance and repair including gasket replacement, fabricating, installing, and aligning piping, and torquing fasteners.
- Performs all aspects of engine maintenance and repair on various type and size engines including all engine subsystems.
- Performs all aspects of turbine and diesel engine maintenance and repair.
- Provides support for refueling activities including but not limited to reactor head removal/installation, cavity gate removal and installation, transfer cart repair, and new fuel receipt.
- Identifies hold points, additional problems and proper replacement parts as needed during performance of work activities.
- Correlates work with other crafts.
- Documents work performed.
- Accept ERO position as needed.
- Accept outage position as needed.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
- Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) or other training as required for position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Environmental and physical requirements require the ability to don appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the defined role; subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up 50lbs; ascending/descending stairs; ascending, descending, traversing ladders, scaffolds, stairs; working in confined spaces; moving safely over uneven or slippery terrain; working in proximity to loud equipment and possible inclement weather/temperature conditions.
- Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
- Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.
- Travel may be required.
- May be required to carry a phone.
Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
