Fleet Maintenance Technician

Merrell Bros., Inc. Florida Division is seeking applicants for a Full-time Fleet Maintenance Technician. Ideal candidates for this Technician opening will have experience as a diesel mechanic working on heavy Class 8 (Tractor Trailers), knowledge of PM requirements, a CDL License is a plus!

This position specializes in operation and maintenance of a semi transport tractor and trailer. Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshoots problems on vehicles. Teamwork to efficiently manage priorities based on operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform minor level repairs on trucks and trailers.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on semi-trucks/trailers.
  • Perform DOT Inspections, including safety and brake inspections.
  • Perform scheduled service, and oil changes.
  • Collaborate with repair team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs in a timely manner.
  • Performing electrical system repairs on vehicles.
  • Perform regular diagnostic tests on vehicles.
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations.
  • Document vehicle records and report both manually and via computer.
  • Advocate safety protocols and document findings.
  • Ensure all personnel are compliant and wearing all required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for the specific work activity being performed.
Qualifications Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of diesel technician and/or maintenance experience.
  • Preventative maintenance expertise.
  • Computer diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of shop equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Deadline and detail oriented.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl along with intermittent standing, sitting, pushing and pulling.
  • Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test
  • Valid Driver license and clean driving record (MVR).
