Tallahassee, FL Facilities / Maintenance Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt $45, /YR
The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining all company facilities, equipment, and systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The technician performs preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance tasks, monitors building systems, coordinates with vendors and contractors, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Reporting StructureReports To: Facilities Manager
Department: Facilities / Maintenance
Supervises: Maintenance Assistants or Interns, as assigned
Work Location: Company Premises / Jobsite as Required
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and mechanical systems
- Respond promptly to work orders and emergency maintenance requests
- Conduct regular inspections of building systems, identifying and resolving issues proactively
- Maintain and track inventory of tools, equipment, and materials; place orders as needed
- Assist with installation, relocation, or setup of office and industrial equipment
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, local codes, and company policies
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and inspections
- Keep detailed maintenance logs, inspection records, and reports
- Mentor or supervise junior maintenance staff when required
- Identify potential facility improvements and communicate recommendations to management
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of general maintenance experience in commercial or industrial settings
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
- Climb ladders and work in confined or elevated spaces
- Proper use of PPE including gloves, hard hats, safety glasses, and hearing protection
- Ability to remain calm and act decisively during emergency situations
