CITY OF BUSHNELL SECOND CLASS LINEWORKER DEPARTMENT:
Electric Department GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Skilled work in the construction, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution lines in accordance with standards of the trade.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSKnowledge of the tools, materials and methods used in line construction and maintenance work. Knowledge of theory and applications of theory regarding electrical circuits and wiring systems. Knowledge of the hazards of the trade and necessary safety precautions. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Skill in the use and care of line tools and the testing of equipment.
Working knowledge of tree limb removal. Physical strength and agility to climb poles and perform heavy manual work under inclement weather conditions.
High School graduate or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Successful completion of an Apprentice program and two years of progressive experience.
(A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONSValid Florida Class A Drivers License with 12 months to receive.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLSAcceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
Acceptable hearing (with or without correction).
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Heavy (45 pounds and over) lifting and carrying.
Reaching, pulling, pushing.
Climbing, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, bending, balancing, stooping.
Distinguish colors.
Ability to distinguish odors.
Equipment Operation.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSWorks inside.
Works outside in various weather conditions with: noise, dust, fumes, grease or oils, electrical energy.
