Coldwater Painting is hiring dependable General Labor / Painting Apprentice team members.
This position is a good fit for someone who is reliable, willing to learn, and comfortable doing hands-on work. Prior painting experience is helpful, but not required. We are looking for people who can show up on time, take direction, work safely, and help our painters keep jobs moving.
This is an entry-level field position with room to grow into a painter role over time.
Starting PayExpected starting range: $16-$18 per hour
Starting pay depends on experience, reliability, transportation, work ethic, ability to follow directions, and company needs.
Work May IncludeGeneral Labor / Apprentice team members may help with:
- Jobsite setup and cleanup
- Masking, taping, covering floors, windows, fixtures, and surfaces
- Moving paint, tools, ladders, equipment, and materials
- Pressure washing
- Scraping, sanding, and basic prep work
- Caulking and minor surface prep
- Assisting painters with interior and exterior projects
- Keeping work areas clean and organized
- Learning proper painting procedures from experienced painters and supervisors
A good candidate should be:
- Dependable and able to show up on time
- Willing to work full-time, Monday through Friday
- Available for occasional Saturdays if needed
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a crew
- Comfortable doing physical work
- Willing to learn painting and jobsite skills
- Able to work indoors and outdoors
- Respectful around customers, coworkers, and jobsite property
This work may include standing, walking, bending, lifting and carrying paint, tools, ladders, and other jobsite materials. Some materials may weigh 50 lbs or more and may require team lifting or safe handling. Work may also include using hand tools, climbing ladders, working outdoors, and being around normal construction jobsite conditions such as paint, dust, odors, and fumes.
Applicants do not need to be comfortable with every type of work on day one. We have different types of work available, but we need to understand what each applicant is comfortable doing.
TravelResidential work is generally local, while commercial projects may require travel to other areas in Michigan, Indiana, or surrounding states. Some jobs may include longer drive times, hotel stays, or overnight travel depending on the project.
RequirementsApplicants should have:
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites
- A valid driver’s license preferred
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Willingness to complete a background check if requested
- A good attitude and willingness to learn
