Job SummaryUnder direct supervision performs apprentice level operator work at a water purification plant, wastewater treatment plant or pumping stations to ensure water services continuously achieve all local, state and federal regulatory requirements while simultaneously meeting customer demands.
Job Description OverviewThe Water Operator Apprentice performs apprentice level work in the monitoring and operation of a water purification plant, wastewater treatment plant, or a system of pumping stations to ensure water services needs of customers are met and that quality standards established by regulatory agencies are continuously met.
Essential Functions- Basic knowledge of chemistry.
- Ability to follow directions, provide support and learn from other Water Operators.
- Skill in detecting detail and observe potential hazards and dangers.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to write reports and keep accurate records.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work either day or night shifts, holidays, and weekends.
- Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, carrying, and walking, etc.
- Ability to use hand tools.
High School Diploma or GED.
ExperienceOne (1) year of general work experience.
Licenses and CertificationsValid Driver’s License and good driving record. Must be able to obtain TCEQ Water System Operator Class D License within the probationary period.
Other RequirementsSubject to twenty-four/seven (24/7) emergency call-out. Availability to work various shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Salary Range $44,720.00 - $47,652.80 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
