Job Summary:The ISP Technician II is a senior-level telecommunications professional responsible for the installation, integration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications and network infrastructure. This position performs advanced field work supporting wireless and wireline network environments, including routers, switches, basebands, up converters, power plants, backup power systems, batteries, generators, and associated telecommunications equipment. The ISP Technician II provides technical leadership in the field, ensures work is completed safely and efficiently, and serves as a subject matter expert for network, electrical, and site infrastructure systems.
Holds certifications in climbing/rescue, rigging, PPE usage, and specialized equipment operations.
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain telecommunications network infrastructure, including routers, switches, baseband units, up converters, RF equipment, and transport systems.
- Perform advanced installation, integration, testing, and maintenance activities for wireless and wireline telecommunications networks.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain AC and DC electrical systems supporting telecommunications facilities and network infrastructure.
- Install, inspect, and maintain telecom power systems, including power plants, rectifiers, battery backup systems, generators, power distribution equipment, and associated site infrastructure.
- Perform equipment integrations, alarm verification, software upgrades, and system turn-up activities to ensure network reliability and performance.
- Install and maintain grounding systems, surge protection equipment, Overvoltage Protection (OVP) devices, and site bonding infrastructure in accordance with industry standards.
- Lead and execute tower construction, maintenance, and upgrade activities, including antenna, coaxial cable, fiber optic, and microwave equipment installations.
- Conduct and supervise testing activities, including sweep testing, PIM testing, fiber testing, power system testing, and equipment commissioning.
- Troubleshoot network outages, equipment failures, and power-related issues utilizing test equipment, technical documentation, and manufacturer specifications.
- Serve as the point leader in the field, providing guidance and instruction to team members to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
- Maintain OSHA regulations and company-specific EHS protocols, ensuring compliance with all safety requirements.
- Operate specialized tools and equipment, including hoists, test equipment, power meters, fiber testing equipment, and rigging systems.
- Interpret and validate construction drawings, RFDS packages, electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and technical documentation to ensure project accuracy.
- Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to less experienced technicians, fostering technical development and promoting a collaborative team environment.
- Collaborate with Foremen, Project Managers, customers, and other stakeholders to address field challenges and ensure successful project execution.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of telecommunications, network infrastructure, wireless, ISP, or related construction and maintenance experience.
- Experience supporting telecommunications network equipment, AC/DC power systems, and site infrastructure.
