Full-Time Staff

1. Have a High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Have a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
3. Electrical Contractor (NC) License (600v and up to $60,000 permit)

Work Experience:

• Minimum of five (5) years of special training/experience in repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining commercial and industrial institutional electrical, and general facility maintenance.
• Minimum of two (2) years of special training/experience in maintaining electrical systems.
• Experience with building construction and/or renovation projects.

The Senior Facilities Services Electrician is responsible for ensuring that Durham Technical Community College’s buildings and equipment is responsible for general maintenance ,electrical and mechanical tasks while utilizing working knowledge to troubleshoot and repair campus issues in a timely manner. The employee is to perform assigned tasks in a cooperative, safe and competent manner, achieve the objectives of the Facility Services Department, and accomplish all duties as specified in the contract of employment.

1. Ensuring proper maintenance, and performing repairs and modifications as necessary(within in-house capabilities) on all electrical equipment and systems.
2. Performing preventive maintenance as defined by the manufacturer or the Facility Services Department specifications.
3. Install, maintain, and enhance electrical systems and components, including fuses, lights, and wiring.
4. Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems and components.
5. Performing and/or assisting with repairs relating to general maintenance, and/or other plumbing, mechanical, or electrical systems as required.
6. Willing to train and upgrade knowledge in assigned duties.
7. Showing initiative in the job to ensure a continuous, timely and efficient operation, using good judgment without constant or direct supervision, and being alert for new ideas and improvements.
8. Ensuring that the workshop, storerooms, and all rooms associated with the general maintenance and electrical equipment are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
9. Being prepared to change and adjust schedule by the season, quarter, or semester, and when otherwise necessary to perform tasks deemed appropriate by the Facility Services Director or other appropriate Durham Technical Community College officials.
10. Willing and readily cooperative in being pulled off of your regular work assignment as needed to help out in other areas for temporary or emergency situations.
11. Being respectful of all employees, including your immediate peers.
