Security & Fire Alarm Electrical Installer

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Security & Fire Alarm Electrical Installer to install, program, configure, commission, and service security & fire alarm and related building systems at customer sites. In this role, you will work on technical field projects that require strong troubleshooting skills, clear communication, and a commitment to safe, high-quality execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, program, configure, commission, and service Security & Fire Alarm Systems and other related building system products at customer sites.
  • Support integrated low-voltage systems work, including Access Control, CCTV, Nurse Call, and Paging systems where applicable.
  • Test, troubleshoot, repair, and reprogram panels, devices, and related system components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, and operational/product manuals.
  • Coordinate installation activities with other trades to optimize schedule and site productivity.
  • Work with the project manager to resolve discrepancies and coordination issues that affect installation progress.
  • Complete project documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Train customers on functional system operation, conduct simulations, and answer questions.
  • Provide professional customer service and communicate effectively with district staff, project teams, and site contacts.
  • Follow all OSHA and Johnson Controls safety policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while staying organized and meeting time and labor targets.
  • Attend required site meetings and communicate progress, risks, and needs clearly.
  • Use test equipment and commissioning devices effectively to verify system performance and quality.
  • Maintain a strong customer focus by explaining system operation clearly and supporting a positive service experience.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
  • Experience installing, programming, configuring, commissioning, and servicing fire alarm or related low-voltage systems.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, diagrams, specifications, schematics, and operational/product manuals.
  • Experience using hand tools, test equipment, multimeters, digital analyzers, and commissioning devices.
  • Ability to obtain and retain any licenses required by national, state, and local codes.
