Vehicle Mechanic

Responsible for the repair, preventive maintenance, and operational readiness of all CTCD fleet vehicles, farm machinery, and grounds maintenance equipment.

-High school diploma or GED and Formal training as an automotive mechanic required. ASE Certification preferred.

• -Ability to read and interpret vehicle technical data, electrical schematics, and manufacturer service manuals.
• -Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards for the proper handling and disposal of chemicals, shop fluids, and lubricants.
• -Ability to effectively prioritize daily maintenance tasks and manage time across a diverse range of equipment.
• -Must hold a valid State of Texas Class C driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
• Eligible for coverage under CTC’s commercial auto and other liability insurance policies.

• -Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, lubrication, oil and filter changes, and tune-ups on all fleet vehicles, farm equipment, and grounds machinery.
• -Maintain vehicle registration readiness and provide roadside recovery support for disabled CTCD vehicles as needed.
• -Diagnose, repair, and overhaul automatic and manual transmissions, steering, and suspension systems.
• -Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical systems, starting/charging components, and vehicle electronic controls.
• -Diagnose and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
• -Perform complete engine diagnostics, repairs, removals, and overhauls on diesel, gasoline, and small engines.
• -Conduct tire repairs, mounting, balancing, and installation across fleet and equipment wheels.
• -Perform structural repairs and component fabrication using electric arc and oxy-acetylene welding equipment.
  
  -Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on heavy equipment, tractors, and outdoor power tools.
• -Accurately estimate repair times, required parts, and labor costs for assigned work orders.
• -Immediately report severe mechanical failures, safety hazards, or extended equipment downtime to the supervisor or the Director of Facilities Management.
• Any other duties as assigned.
