Auto Mechanic – Washington Township, Gloucester.Department of Municipal Services. Reports to DPW Supervisor. Wages as Per Article 32 of 3303A Blue Collar Contract - $31.66/Hour. Full-time Regular Business
Hours:
7:00AM to 3:00PM, Monday through Friday. Under direction, performs varied mechanical work involved in the repair, maintenance and servicing of motor vehicles and/or construction equipment working with various machines and hand tools common to the trade; does related work as required.
- Service and repair engines and components, power trains, suspension systems and other mechanical units of such motor vehicles as automobiles, vans and/or such construction equipment as trucks, buses, tractors, or similar equipment.
- Repair of major systems such as diesel engines, transmissions or hydraulic systems are included in this class when performed as part of the total repair to the type of equipment described above.
- Uses a variety of tools, equipment, and testing devices such as pneumatic wrenches to remove bolts; lathes and grinding machines to rebuild brakes and other parts; welding and flame cutting equipment to repair exhaust systems; ohmmeters and voltmeters to locate electrical system malfunctions.
- Minimum of three years of varied experience in the maintenance and repair of various types of motor vehicles and/or construction equipment or similar equipment.
- Possession of a certificate as an automotive mechanic issued by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence may be substituted for one year of the work experience indicated above.
- Must possess a valid NJ Driver’s License.
- Extensive auto mechanic diesel experience preferred.
- Must possess thorough working knowledge in all aspects of automobile/construction equipment/small engine repair.
- Ability to follow assignments set by Municipal Director and/or DPW Supervisors.
- A.S.E. Master Technician.
