Aquila Corporation is looking for an experienced, hands-on Underground Construction Foreman to lead our directional drilling and underground fiber construction crews.

This field leadership position oversees HDD operations, coordinates daily work, manages and mentors crew members, and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specifications, schedules, and Company standards.

• Coordinate daily tasks according to project priorities and plans, adjusting for weather, materials, deliveries, and staffing needs.
• Direct and monitor HDD and underground construction operations to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Plan and assist with selecting directional drilling tooling, fleet equipment, and support equipment for assigned projects.
• Delegate responsibilities and projects to crew members and provide hands‑on leadership in the field.
• Train, manage, mentor, and support crew members while reinforcing safe work practices and proper equipment use.
• Ensure adequate resources and staffing are available to meet project schedules, regulations, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Call in utility locates, conduct deployments, and make in‑field decisions or changes as needed.
• Complete daily production reports, vehicle inspections, damage reports, and incident reports.
• Coordinate work between OSP divisions, including splicing, aerial, underground, and drop operations.
• Perform or fill in for field and mechanical tasks when necessary and complete other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-4 years of experience as a construction or outside plant foreman, or in a similar leadership role.
• Valid driver's license required and ability to meet Company driving requirements.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and underground fiber operations.
• Ability to understand drawings and blueprints.
• Strong time‑management skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to oversee worksite operations while maintaining a safe work environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work primarily outdoors.
• Ability to travel up to 80% and work overtime, weekends, and holidays as project needs require.

• Directional Drilling / HDD Leadership Experience
• OSHA or CPR Certification
• CDL License or Experience
