Position Summary

The Supervising Career Development Specialist in the Veterans Employment Services’ Program is responsible for the execution and delivery of employment services for a team of Career Development Specialists. Must have demonstrated supervisory ability and ability to successfully supervise a variety of personalities. This professional must be available to assist and train team members in the timely completion of work assignments, data collection and documentation.

Will ensure accuracy and quality of information reported to Program Manager. Will be primary source of reporting information for specific employment services location. Works as part of an employment services team serving clients in specific geographic areas. Will be responsible for ensuring that employment placement and retention goals are met or exceeded, which would include, but not be limited to, the following activities:

Essential Functions
  • Develop a program design and strategy for a Career Development Team
  • Attend meetings with the Program Manager, Program supervisors, funders, or employers seeking to hire veterans.
  • Provide oversight into client assessment, case management and service provision.
  • Provide direct supervision of a Career Development Team including on-going monitoring and evaluation of activities and staff performance.
  • Monitor and meet required benchmarks in enrollments and placements on a Quarterly basis.
  • Assist the Program Manager in capturing DATA for Salesforce and any internal CIS reports.
  • Train and become secondary user for the VGRS system required by DOL.
  • Review and approve employee time sheets daily.
  • Responsible for annual performance evaluation for all Career Development Specialist or anyone assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Create tracking logs to determine the process of any new procedures.
  • Create working relationships with community partners in referrals, training, and workshops.
  • Conduct workshops for our homeless veterans who need the skills in resume building or interviewing.
  • Explore new resources to share with the Career Development Specialist that will assist homeless veterans.
  • Collaborate with America Job Centers, EDDs, and CoCs for veteran referrals.
  • Conduct weekly or bi-weekly supervision with all Career Development Specialist.
  • Based upon the assessments, work with the client to develop a plan of action, namely the Veteran Care Plan.
  • Strengthening job readiness skills through one-on-one and group sessions. Coach clients in job search, applications, resume writing, interviewing and follow-up skills.
  • Assist a contracted number of clients to locate, secure and maintain employment.
  • Regularly and accurately maintain client data and complete case management documentation about all activities, services, and outcomes achieved.
  • Provide appropriate job leads and match job ready clients with job openings.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team consisting of housing specialists, mental health clinicians, and social workers to best support clients’ goals.
  • Assist the Program Manager in creating and reviewing program policies and conduct training to review the changes.
  • Assess and create an action plan for growing enrollments and placements.
  • Build and Maintain relationships with public and private sector partners and employers.
  • Serve as a job developer for the Career Development Specialist to recruit employers in-order to advocate for clients – use assessment of client and employer to provide best fit job matching.
