Position: Visitation Monitor - New Beginning Program (Closing: August 17, 2026)
Location: Northern

REGULAR/FT NON EXEMPT LEVEL 5 SALARY: $14.12 GENERAL DEFINITION

Incumbent is responsible for providing supervised visitations and submitting status reports to the referring agencies. Incumbent will provide orientations, intakes, and complete proper documentation making appropriate recommendations of services to ensure safety of the families.

Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the New Beginning Program Manager.

None.

DUTIES Provides a safe and healthy environment in which children can visit with their non-custodial parent.
  • Greets and introduces children and parent(s) to staff upon their arrival to Safe Haven.
  • Orients both parents and child(ren) to policies/procedures. (i.e. visitation requirements, infractions and violations and structure of Safe Haven).
  • Complete intakes with both parents and the child(ren) referred to Safe Haven.
  • Facilitates the safe exchange/supervised visitation of children.
  • Monitors on-site visits to assure that parent’s interactions with the children are appropriate and insures compliance of the visitation court order.
  • Removes children if parent’s interactions become physical or emotionally detrimental to the children’s well being.
  • Cleans Safe Haven before and after each visit ensuring Safe Haven is sanitized and has a welcoming atmosphere for each family receiving services.
  • Conducts ongoing briefings with supervisor and therapist.
Provides intake services and documentation of supervised visitations.
  • Schedules supervised visitations, ensuring there is no conflict with other services/families receiving ervices at Safe Haven by printing out and distributing each family’s visitation calendar at least a week prior to starting Safe Haven services.
  • Maintains visitation logs and records observations on DAP notes for each client contact and visit.
  • Documents progress of visitations accurately and promptly submitting status reports to the referring agencies every three months, or as needed if prior to the three months.
  • Identifies, documents and reports signs of emotional or developmental problems noticed in children during visitations, making appropriate referrals and recommendations for the families.
Assists in planning of parent and child activities based on level of required monitored visit.
  • Arranges and displays age and culturally appropriate activities and games.
  • Organizes and/or participates in activities, dependent on the level of supervision required.
Performs other duties as required or necessary.
  • Attends meetings with other service providers including NBP to provide effective services to families utilizing Safe Haven services.
  • Assist Therapist, and/or Facilitating Support group and parenting sessions focusing on the prevention of violence.
  • Participates with the on-call response to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence incidents.
  • Answers crisis calls coming into the office via phone and determine the caller’s eligibility into shelter.
  • Collects reports regarding services, statistics to Program Manger.
  • Assists in on-call response.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLDEGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of domestic violence and the need of a safe supervised environment for the children and parents. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to write reports and complete forms. Ability to problem solve and use judgment to make sound decisions. Ability to work in a courteous and appropriate manner in performing job duties. Ability to speak both Zuni and English preferred.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with clients, Tribal employees and the general public.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years work experience in the area of social service or related field.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATES

Must have a valid New Mexico Driver’s License with no DWI/DUI convictions within the past three (3) years or any other criminal convictions. Driving is an essential part of the duties.
