GENERAL DEFINITION
:
The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver case management assistance to Child Protective Service Workers handling allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation in accordance with the New Mexico Children’s Code and the Zuni Children’s Code. The incumbent may additionally provide direct services to clients involved in these cases.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work is performed under the direction of the Social Services Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: No supervisory duties.
DUTIES:
- Provides case management, tracking and follow-up services.
- Assist CPS Workers with case planning, documentation, and coordination for cases involving alleged child abuse, neglect or exploitation.
- Perform comprehensive evaluations of client needs, resources, and situations to determine appropriate services.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and timelines in compliance with state and tribal codes.
- Gather, organize, and assess case information to support decision-making and service planning.
- Aid in monitoring safety plans, service plans, and follow-up activities.
- Documents and maintains all contacts made with families to ensure adequate record keeping, documentation of notes, and works closely with contracted attorneys/guardian ad litem for case representation within the court sector.
- Guides and assists Child Protective Services with coordination and processing of all cases.
- Support CPS Workers during home visits, interviews, assessments, and other field activities.
- Monitors reports of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children and elderly.
Applies a family strategy approach in the delivery of services to clientele.
- Conducts thorough home studies and unannounced visits to assess living dynamics for the continued protection of the children.
- Assures quality service and timeliness of case coordination in accordance with tribal, federal and state protection codes.
- Assists with Child Protective Team Meetings and provides case management to active child abuse/neglect cases.
- Attend tribal court hearings alongside contracted attorney’s, guardian ad litem and provides testimonies when necessary.
- Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly and/or annual statistical narrative reports.
Provide direct services to children, parents, guardians, and custodians as assigned.
- Participate in family meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and court-related activities when needed.
- Facilitate referrals to community resources such as counseling, medical evaluations, substance abuse treatment, parenting support, or emergency services.
- Ensure culturally sensitive practices aligned with Zuni community values and legal frameworks.
- Provide services and resources for adults, children, and families to improve and strengthen family functioning.
- Follows entirety of case through each agency to ensure ethical client base practices are conducted. Implement individual and family assessments to determine the strengths and needs of children and their parents/custodians.
- Provides evaluation and recommendation of new foster homes and monitors compliance within foster homes, to determine suitability.
Provides mediation, coordination, and protective services
- Refers child and parent or guardian to community resources according to the needs of Clients.
- Develop family service plans designed to reunify children with their families and implements follow-up services to ensure clients are compliant with service/case plans.
- Works closely with other service providers to ensure quality compliance.
- Conduct monthly visits to children in preferred placements and/or licensed facilities to provide guidance, observe improvements, and make recommendations for continued case management.
Performs other duties as assigned by Program Manager.

- Participates in programmatic improvements.
