Description

Teller County's Department of Human Services is seeking a Case Services Aide II – Ongoing to provide supervised court-ordered visitations between children and their families in a variety of settings to promote and/or maintain the bonding/relationship of the child(ren) and parent/family; may provide Para-professional services primarily for problems in the home in support of a treatment plan developed by professional caseworkers;

is the main backup for the Hotline Screener during business hours. Utilizes specialized screening techniques regarding concerns and identifies imminent safety issues of the child, youth or adult; performs background checks on adults and children in both Adult Protection and Child Welfare referrals; responsible for all documentations into computer systems utilized by both programs.

What You’ll Do:

(1) Supervise court-ordered visitations. Coordinate scheduling with parents, foster parents, schools and visitation room availability. Provide Supervisor with a monthly schedule of visits. Document observations and interactions of family members/clients following each visit.

(2) Utilization of fact-based information gathering while developing analytical ability to determine if there is an immediate concern for safety.

(3) Provide transportation to clients as needed.

(4) Meet regularly with supervisor, and social caseworkers to coordinate and review case plans; provide immediate information to therapists/social caseworkers in response to client crisis or negative change in client behavior.

(5) Participate in team/unit and DHS agency meetings.

(6) Request records such as police reports, medical and social history and school records. Maintain confidential records and statistics on work performed, and other records as required in conjunction with caseworker. Input referrals and other forms into various computer systems.

(8) Perform administrative duties for Supervisors and Caseworkers to include, but not limited to, logging of court orders, preparing cases for electronic storage, filing, copying, filing out routine forms and due diligence reports and letters.

(9) Act as back up to the Case Services Aid – Intake. Accepts reports of potential or alleged abuse and /or neglect of children, youth, or adults by phone or in person.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring :
Education/

Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent,
  • Plus three (3) years of experience in public contact involving providing services,
  • Including one (1) year in a social service agency;
  • Any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
You should also have the following

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of: enhanced interview and screening techniques;
Trails and CAPS database systems; effective parenting skills and infant/child development; basic computer skills and electronic communications; principles and processes for providing excellent customer service, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Skilled in: various computer/data entry skills to access programs such as Dept. of Labor, Dept. of Motor Vehicles; mandated background checks, internal, local and State levels.

Ability to: communicate effectively in writing and verbally; establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with co-workers, other county departments, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and the public; assimilate and apply the following:
Colorado Children’s Code, State statutes and Teller County DHS policies, State eligibility requirements to determine eligibility for Title 4-E Foster Care and Maintenance of Effort (MOE), mathematical formulas to establish eligibility requirements; provide instruction and to monitor; observe and interpret interactions; assess family dynamics as they unfold and to deal with crisis situations; effectively and positively interact with family members/clients and to intervene in negative behavior which is contrary to positive family dynamics;
