Permanent Supportive Housing Advocate - Grove Campus

SAFE Alliance seeks four (4) Permanent Supportive Housing Advocate for the Community & Housing Services Program in the Supportive Housing & Rapid Rehousing department. The primary responsibilities of the Permanent Supportive Housing Advocate is to provide confidential client-driven, trauma-informed service coordination to client and offer clients empowerment-based skill building necessary to achieve self-sufficiency through individual client sessions.

We are dedicated to ending violence through prevention,advocacy, and comprehensive services for individuals, families, and communities that have been affected by abuse.

Over the past two years, SAFE has served 11,397clients across our programs. During that time, SAFE reached more than 50,000community members through over 2,000 trainings, provided more than 150,000nights and days of shelter and housing support, and delivered over 53,000crisis intervention and advocacy services through our 24/7 hotline, walk-in advocacy, and direct support programs.

We are looking for four (4) people to work on a full-time, non-exempt basis for an annual salary of $51,000 to $53,000 dependent upon experience. The work location will be based at our Grove Blvd. Campus in the East Austin area. This position will include some travel in the community or between campuses with no ability for remote/hybrid work.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field required.
  • Equivalent years of professional-level relevant experience is acceptable in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least 1 year experience providing case management or advocacy is required; familiarity with risk assessment and safety planning required.
  • At least 1 year experience working with homeless population and trauma survivors with co-occurring disorders preferred
  • Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish is preferred; fluency being the ability to clearly and accurately communicate to convey information using the Spanish language, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to listen carefully, build rapport, gather and synthesize information, and work effectively with a diverse group of clients.
  • Demonstrate conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change.
  • Maintain flexibility; work with frequent interruptions and multiple/changing priorities.
  • The ability to problem-solve and defuse crisis under pressure.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Model being resilient by demonstrating coping skills and de-escalation techniques.
  • Be capable of sitting and standing for extended periods of time, as well as be able to intermittently push, pull, or lift 20+lbs. of force.
