Van Buren County Hospital is seeking a Community Service Assistant to join our Community Services team. This unique part-time position combines employment coaching, community outreach, and occupational health support to make a meaningful impact both within VBCH and throughout the community.
What You'll DoJob Coaching & Workplace Support
- Provide individualized employment coaching and workplace support for individuals participating in the Job Opportunities program.
- Teach job-specific skills, workplace behaviors, and employer expectations.
- Help individuals identify employment goals, build workplace skills, and maintain successful community-based employment.
- Monitor progress and adapt coaching strategies to support long-term independence and employment success.
Community Outreach
- Support community tobacco-prevention initiatives through the Community Partnership Grant.
- Assist with the Youth Leadership Council at Van Buren County Community School.
- Work with community partners to promote and educate about nicotine-free policies.
- Participate in required community meetings, training, and outreach activities.
Occupational Health Support
- Perform DOT and worksite pre-employment, post-accident, random, and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
- Assist with the DOT consortium program.
- Perform audiograms and fit testing following required training and certification.
- Assist with worksite pre-employment and annual physical paperwork.
- Maintain required training and stay current with applicable occupational health requirements.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in vocational rehabilitation, employment services, education, healthcare, or community-based human services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate individuals with diverse abilities.
- Strong organization, documentation, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with others.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
This position requires flexibility to support employment coaching, community activities, and worksite services based on program needs.
