Make a Difference When It Matters Most.

YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking compassionate, dedicated professionals to join our Crisis Advocacy team. As a Crisis Advocate, you will provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, safety planning, and support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. Working in the shelter, on the 24-hour hotline, and throughout the community, you'll help survivors navigate difficult situations while connecting them to the resources they need to move forward.

Position Details

  • Starting Pay: $24.00/hour
  • Schedule: 37.5 hours per week with the following shifts available:
    • Sunday - Thursday 8am-4pm
  • Includes compensated on-call responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, and safety planning.
  • Respond to the 24-hour crisis hotline.
  • Accompany survivors to hospitals, courts, and law enforcement appointments.
  • Assist with Protection From Abuse (PFA) petitions.
  • Support residents in emergency shelter.
  • Coordinate referrals and community resources.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation.
  • Participate in trainings, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
  • A compassionate, professional, and inclusive approach.
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable during crises.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, victim advocacy, and community resources.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, social work, or related human services.
  • Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn case management software.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, criminal justice, or related field; oran Associate's Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in providing advocacy, social work, human services, or other supportive services.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle for travel within Dauphin and Perry Counties with a valid Driver's License.
    • Please note:

      Vehicle is for transportation of employee only - no client transport.
    • Mileage is reimbursed.
  • Must possess current FBI, Child Abuse, and State Police Clearances.
