Position: County Caseworker I (Children & Youth Services)
Location: Northern

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Obtaining information from clients and their families to identify social, economic, emotional, health, or physical problems and assist in accessing services per policy.
  • Providing casework and counseling to help clients and families adjust to their specific situations.
  • Collaborating with social agencies, hospitals, clinics, courts, and community resources to meet client needs and assist clients in utilizing these resources.
  • Interpreting programs, policies, and procedures to individuals, groups, and agencies.
  • Documenting all contacts with families, service providers, and others, ensuring proper placement in family files according to agency guidelines.
  • For bilingual County Caseworker I, translating forms from English to Spanish and interpreting client phone calls from Spanish to English.
About You

The company is looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences.
  • Knowledge of economics, sociology, psychology, and other social sciences.
  • Understanding of current social, economic, and health problems affecting development.
  • Knowledge of human development and behavior at individual, family, and group levels.
  • Ability to work with adults and children who are physically challenged, mentally disabled, emotionally disturbed, or economically disadvantaged.
  • Ability to learn and apply relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing agency services.
  • Skills in conducting individual and family interviews to identify problems.
  • Effective interaction with individuals, families, and treatment teams.
  • Ability to plan, organize work, maintain records, set priorities, and manage caseloads efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to accept supervision and adapt to changing assignments.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Ability to handle stress and maintain physical presence in the office.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, good driving record, and access to a fully insured, reliable vehicle for daily use.
Physical Demands

Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle objects, and reaching. Vision requirements include close vision and focus adjustment. Occasionally lifting or moving up to 40 pounds over short distances is required.

Working Environment

Work is performed in an office environment and various field locations as assigned.
