In 2007 Hayley and Ed Ricciardi moved to Surfside Beach, SC from New Jersey. In 2009 The Ricciardis were thinking of a small business to start up. Ed, growing up in the Philadelphia and New Jersey area knew how popular Italian ice can be on hot summer days. So they decided to start Ricciardi's Italian ice. Ricciardis always pride themselves on great customer service, free samples and the best tasting summer treat.

As a Food Service Associate, participants will be responsible for the following job duties:

• Managing all product sales, including scooping the Italian Ice product for customers,
• Taking payment in all approved forms and providing accurate change to customers as needed,
• Providing Italian Ice samples to customers upon request.

• To succeed in this job, participants must have good customer service skills, be friendly, and be willing to approach people to increase sales. Participants must be capable of describing the Italian Ice flavors to customers or answering other questions about the product.
• Participants will be required to work outside in the heat for every shift and will be required to stand on their feet throughout their shift. Since they'll be serving customers, participants will have to bend over frequently to scoop the Italian Ice and must have the required hand strength for scooping the product repeatedly throughout shift. Only participants who are physically capable of performing these tasks should apply.
• In case of a temporary rainstorm or inclement weather while participants are working, participants will be required to put a cover on the Italian Ice product and go inside or seek cover until the rain stops. Participants will still be paid at the regular hourly rate during this time.
• The job is paid per hour, but the employer also puts a tip jar out at each location, for participants to collect and divide with other workers at the end of the day. New participants will start at 13 per hour Potential raises to rate of pay $17-$22 per hour for those that exceeded expectations in the position. Last year, employees who performed to the expectations of this position earned $40-100 per day in tips above the hourly wage of $13.
  
  Tips can vary from day to day based on business volume and individual performance.

The housing options typically consist of 2 to 4 bedroom houses or apartment/condo units. In all housing options, participants will have theirown beds, either individual single beds or bunk beds. Participants will be sharing bedrooms, typically with 2 to 4 participants per room. The housing options have kitchens, and participants will be provided with kitchenware.
