Direct Support Professional / Life Skills Coach (Part-time)
Part-time role supporting a young adult in the Cheviot Hills area. Three weekday mornings (about 6.75 hours per week) on the same set schedule. Mileage is reimbursed.
Full DescriptionAdaptive SDP is hiring a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Life Skills Coach to work one-on-one with a young adult, supporting independence, daily living skills, and community participation. You'll work in the family's home and out in the community around Cheviot Hills on a set weekly schedule.
This is a great fit for college students, parents looking for hours during the school day, or anyone who wants a few steady, meaningful hours each week.
Key Responsibilities- Coach and support everyday tasks, self-care, independence, safety awareness, problem solving, and flexibility
- Help the person work toward the goals in their person-centered service plan
- Drive to and support community outings, errands, classes, and activities
- Support routines and skill-building at home
- Complete a short session note after each visit in our mobile app
- $28–$35/hour, based on experience
- $35/hour for candidates with 2+ years of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities
- Mileage reimbursed for all client transportation
- Pay well above typical DSP rates in the area
- Mileage reimbursement for community outings
- Paid sick leave
- Paid if the family cancels a visit with less than 24 hours' notice
- Consistent hours with one person, so you can build a real relationship
- Paid training and ongoing support from a supervisor
- Meaningful, person-centered work
About 6.75 hours / week
- Monday 10:00 AM – 12:15 PM
- Tuesday 10:00 AM – 12:15 PM
- Friday 10:00 AM – 12:15 PM
Same days and times every week.
Requirements- 18 or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Valid California driver's license, reliable insured vehicle, and a clean driving record (required, since this role includes frequent community transportation)
- Able to pass a DOJ Live Scan background check
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to get it
- Able to communicate clearly in English
- Comfortable working in a home with dogs
- Available for the full weekly schedule above
- Experience supporting people with developmental disabilities preferred
