Mary’s Place Seattle seeks an Outreach & Diversion Specialist to engage families experiencing homelessness in Seattle and help them quickly move from crisis to stability. In this role, you’ll conduct community-based outreach, complete compassionate, trauma-informed assessments, and collaborate with families to explore safe alternatives to shelter, including reunification, rapid housing options, and community resources. You’ll coordinate referrals to housing, employment, and benefits programs, maintain accurate data, and partner with internal teams and local agencies.
Ideal candidates bring strong crisis intervention skills, cultural humility, and a commitment to equity and social justice.
- Conduct mobile and community-based outreach to families experiencing homelessness across Seattle.
- Complete trauma-informed intakes, diversion conversations, and housing-focused assessments.
- Partner with families to identify safe alternatives to shelter, including reunification and rapid housing options.
- Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and de-escalation support in alignment with agency protocols.
- Coordinate referrals to housing, employment, healthcare, and benefits resources with community partners.
- Collaborate closely with shelter, advocacy, and housing teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate, timely case notes, data entry, and outcome tracking in the client database.
- Advocate for families’ needs with systems and partners using an equity and anti-oppression lens.
- Participate in case consultation, team meetings, and continuous learning around trauma-informed practice.
