Senior Software Engineer

Extend offers businesses powerful spend controls and expense workflows that drive efficiency, improve security and visibility, and better manage company spending. Our primary product is a spend and expense management platform that allows SMBs to create on-demand virtual cards, automate reconciliation, and manage employee expense reports. We have built the first virtual card platform of its kind, directly integrated with processors, networks, and the technology that supports banking across the industry.

We offer several virtual card products including an app-as-a-service that banks can offer business customers with their existing credit cards, a suite of virtual card APIs for those looking to build custom payment solutions, and we also offer secure connectivity to key banking and payment services that enable 3rd-parties to integrate and embed payments into their software.

As a Product Engineer at Extend, you will join one of our three “feature pods” and focus primarily on building features that serve to ignite key strategic partnerships. You will operate as a fullstack developer within a highly collaborative and cross-functional team that takes features from ideation to production every week. You’ll join a team that values synchronous collaboration and prioritizes shared outcomes.

At Extend, you'll:

• Own product features end-to-end, from technical design through production, across our stack.
• Execute on challenging technical problems while staying grounded in why the work exists, not just how to implement a solution.
• Work closely with teammates across engineering, product, and design.
• Contribute to your team's culture by communicating openly, giving and receiving feedback well, and prioritizing shared outcomes.
• Set and uphold a high bar for code quality, reliability, and maintainability, and help teammates do the same through code review and design discussions.
• Make sound day-to-day tradeoffs between velocity, quality, and scope, and deliver impact quickly without sacrificing correctness.
• Use modern tools (including AI) as leverage to explore solutions faster and deliver impact sooner.
• Bring customer obsession to your development process, regularly asking:
  How does this make the experience better for our users?

• 2-7 years of professional experience building and maintaining production software.
• Hands-on experience shipping with React or comparable modern frontend frameworks. Bonus points for experience with mobile development.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining backend services, with a good grasp of API design, data modeling, and performance considerations. Bonus points for experience with Kotlin.
• Experience owning features from design through release, including the operational follow-through.
• Comfort with working in large, evolving codebases; able to navigate unfamiliar areas and improve them as you go.
• Comfort with using AI tooling to push the boundaries of what you can build and learn.
