Lead Salesforce Platform EngineerTechnical Charlotte, NC, US
2 days ago Requisition
JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Salesforce Platform Engineer is the hands-on technical owner and subject matter expert for ACN's Salesforce platform. This role combines deep Salesforce platform knowledge, strong software engineering capability, solution design, and technical leadership. The engineer is expected to understand the platform end-to-end, own its technical health and evolution, design scalable solutions, participate directly in implementation, and raise the engineering capability of the broader Salesforce team.
This is not a traditional hands-off architect role and is not a people-management position. The Lead Salesforce Platform Engineer will work with Business Analysts, Project/Delivery Management, business stakeholders, and IT leadership after work has entered the approved delivery process to refine requirements, evaluate solution options, and recommend the best technical approach. The role is expected to make sound day-to-day technical decisions independently within established architecture standards, while bringing material architecture decisions to the Architecture Review Board (ARB).
Success requires enterprise judgment as much as Salesforce expertise. The right engineer understands Salesforce as one component of a broader enterprise architecture and can distinguish between what Salesforce can do and what should be implemented on the platform.
JOB DUTIES
• Serve as the hands-on technical owner and senior subject matter expert for the Salesforce platform, with accountability for platform health, maintainability, scalability, security, reliability, and technical evolution.
• Design end-to-end Salesforce solutions for complex business capabilities, including application components, data models, security, automation, integrations, APIs, event-driven patterns, and dependencies across the enterprise architecture.
• Remain directly involved in implementation. Build and modify solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flow, SOQL/SOSL, asynchronous processing, platform events, APIs, and other appropriate Salesforce capabilities while working alongside less-senior developers.
• Evaluate business requirements with Business Analysts, Project/Delivery Management, stakeholders, and IT leadership after work has been approved and prioritized; develop practical solution options and clearly communicate tradeoffs, risks, effort, and recommendations.
• Use strong platform knowledge to favor native Salesforce capabilities where they are appropriate and avoid unnecessary custom development; equally, recognize when a requirement is better implemented outside Salesforce and recommend the appropriate enterprise solution.
• Make sound day-to-day technical decisions independently within established architecture standards and elevate material architectural decisions, exceptions, or cross-platform impacts through the Architecture Review Board (ARB).
• Own and continuously improve the technical health of the Salesforce estate, including technical debt, governor-limit utilization, API and event consumption, failed or asynchronous processing, performance, deprecated functionality, release impacts, integration health, security configuration, and platform reliability.
• Provide technical leadership to Salesforce developers through solution design, pairing, code reviews, troubleshooting, reusable patterns, engineering standards, and mentoring; improve team velocity and quality without becoming a bottleneck or simply absorbing all difficult work.
• Establish and promote modern Salesforce engineering practices including modular design, source control, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, deployment discipline, secure coding, and maintainable documentation.
• Lead troubleshooting of complex production issues and root-cause analysis across Salesforce and connected systems; coordinate effectively with application, platform, infrastructure, security, and vendor teams as required.
