Position: Staff Software Engineer, Internal Tools & Automation
Location: Northern

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About the Role:

As a Forward-Deployed Engineer, you will embed with another Crusoe team, such as SRE, Finance, Sales, People Ops, or a product group. You will learn how they operate and build software that helps them take the next action, not just describe the problem. This is a forward-deployed engineering role serving internal teams. Your customer is a Crusoe team. Your product is the application, automation, or agent that makes their work faster, clearer, and more dependable.

Success is measured by adoption and by the time and effort you return to the team. This is also a new function. You will be one of its first engineers and will help shape how it operates.

Several capabilities have matured recently. Modern BI tools now support write-back, so dashboards can update real records instead of only displaying them. Company data and operational context are reachable by AI agents through governed interfaces. Automation platforms and a shared library of reusable skills let you connect actions across many source systems, including CRM, support, infrastructure inventory, and the data warehouse.

Together, these capabilities allow an embedded engineer to deliver interactive tooling in days instead of quarters. We are looking for engineers who want to use that leverage to help internal teams move faster with confidence.

What You'll Be Working On:
  • Embed with a stakeholder team.

  • Build applications.

  • Automate real workflows.

  • Own the work end to end.

  • Contribute to the platform.

  • Keep it correct.

What You'll Bring to the Team:
  • 8+ years building and owning production software.

  • Staff-level scope and judgment.

  • Full-stack engineering skill.

  • Strong SQL and data modeling.

  • Product mindset and stakeholder fluency.

  • Fast delivery with attention to correctness.

  • Comfort with AI-assisted development.

  • Strong ownership.

Bonus Points
  • Experience as a forward-deployed, solutions, or embedded engineer.

  • Prior BI or analytics engineering work with tools such as Sigma, Looker, dbt, or Tableau.

  • Familiarity with automation platforms such as Workato or n8n.

  • Experience building on MCP, agent frameworks, or LLM tool use.

  • Comfort in an early-stage environment with a high degree of ambiguity.

Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability

  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement

  • Mental health & wellness support

  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)

  • Cell phone stipend

  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary

  • Volunteer time off

  • Global travel insurance & emergency assistance

  • Daily meals allowance

  • Additional perks & programs specific to location

Compensation Range

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $215,000 -$260,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant's knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
