What the role actually is

Path Robotics is hiring a senior machine learning engineer and tech lead for its loco-manipulation robot-learning work. The person will write code, set technical direction, make architectural calls, mentor engineers, and shape the team's working model.

The role can be based in Columbus or remote, and it sits at the beginning of a new research stack for precision heavy-manufacturing tasks.

• Set technical direction for ML systems that drive whole-body loco-manipulation
• Build architecture for visual reasoning, learned action policies, and RL fine-tuning
• Mentor engineers while staying hands-on in implementation
• Evaluate models against real industrial robot behavior and customer data

• Senior ML engineering experience in robotics, manipulation, or embodied AI
• Ability to lead technical architecture while still writing production-quality code
• Experience with learned policies, reinforcement learning, or robot-control systems
• Judgment about turning research ideas into reliable industrial capability

Founding tech-lead roles can be high-leverage when the team is pointed at a real bottleneck. Here the bottleneck is getting learned robot behavior to perform precision physical work, not just benchmark well.
