Position overview

The Yale Digital Health Lab is seeking a motivated software developer to help support and enhance technology that protects vulnerable populations and improves healthcare operations.

A primary focus of this position is developing and supporting secure, production web applications used in healthcare, public-service, and research settings. Projects include digital health platforms, workforce and licensing applications, clinical research technologies, and innovative software that improves public services and protects vulnerable populations. The developer will also have opportunities to contribute to digital health research involving elder-mistreatment screening, electronic informed consent, and clinical research tools.

Rather than working on a single application, the successful candidate will contribute across multiple software platforms, gaining experience with enterprise web development, digital health technologies, secure data systems, and emerging AI-enabled solutions.

Working with investigators, researchers, designers, and technical partners, the developer will help maintain existing applications, develop new functionality, investigate technical issues, and support reliable software deployment. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career developer seeking meaningful, hands‑on experience at Yale while building software with measurable public impact.

What you will do
  • Support and enhance web applications used in healthcare and public-service settings.
  • Develop, test, document, and maintain application features using C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

  • Investigate reported issues, identify root causes, and implement reliable solutions.
  • Support users and research partners by responding to technical questions and software incidents.
  • Write and maintain SQL queries and support application databases.
  • Assist with application releases, configuration, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, technical planning, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with researchers and stakeholders to translate operational needs into practical software solutions.
  • Help protect sensitive information by following appropriate security, privacy, and data-handling practices.
  • Contribute to additional digital health applications as project needs evolve.
Why join the team?
  • Build software that supports healthcare and helps protect vulnerable people.
  • Gain hands‑on experience across development, deployment, troubleshooting, and user support.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team from Yale and collaborating organizations.
