The Voleon Group, a quantitative hedge fund headquartered in Berkeley, is hiring Software Engineer Interns for Summer 2027, and is also open to Fall or Winter 2027 terms for students whose schedules run that way.
Voleon applies statistical machine learning to financial prediction, and its engineers build the systems that make that possible: real-time trading systems, large-scale distributed data processing, and research infrastructure for the next generation of ML models. Interns work closely with machine learning researchers, trading staff and engineers, take on real responsibility early, and get exposure to the full finance stack, from institutional trading mechanics to market execution dynamics.
Pay: $14,583 per month.
Who it is for: students expected to graduate in 2028, with hands-on experience building something significant, mastery of computer science fundamentals, comfort with Linux, git and mainstream databases, familiarity with cloud infrastructure, and availability for a full-time internship in summer, fall or winter 2027.
