River Engineer

Position Summary:

The Engineer 4 position will be assigned to the MRF and will report to the Port Engineers. They will work closely with Operations and will be responsible for decking duties along with preventative maintenance on the motor vessel. This will be a 28 day on/28 day off schedule.

• Perform basic preventative maintenance for the engine room.
• Complete vessel orientation for each of the smaller class of vessels.
• Safely fuel the motor vessel.
• Maintain decking duties (barge work, making locks, and any tasks requested by the Vessel Captain).
• Perform general boat maintenance.
• Actively participate in the Marine Structured Safety Process (SSP).
• Participate in environmental or safety initiatives.
• Assist shore side with vessel outages.

• Tankerman License Verification.
• Deckhand 1 Qualification Booklet completed and signed off by a designated Trainee.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must hold a valid driver's license.
• Travel to and from the vessel for crew changes is expected; a valid driver’s license is mandatory. Crew changes are made using a crew van or other rental vehicle. Travel by airline or other transportation may be required depending on vessel location.
