Job Overview
Join the front line of campus life as a Bus Driver/Operator with the University’s Transportation Department. This part‑time, 9‑month position (August–May) requires 20–27 hours per week on rotating shifts between 4:45AM and 12:30AM, with operations 7 days a week. Drivers may also be on‑call or support overtime driving. You are the face of the university, providing safe, reliable, and friendly service to students, faculty, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Safely transport passengers across campus and surrounding areas.
- Deliver excellent customer service as a visible ambassador of the university.
- Use efficient computer skills for clerical tasks, email communication, and fleet reporting.
- Collaborate with team members and departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Fuel, clean, and perform routine maintenance checks on assigned and shared vehicles.
- Maintain accurate logs and submit documentation through digital platforms.
- Report to work during emergencies or special events as an essential employee.
- Comply with traffic and safety regulations to operate vehicles safely and courteously.
- React promptly to changing conditions in route format, weather, or general driving conditions.
- Subject to DOT drug/alcohol testing and physical exam.
- All other duties as assigned.
- CDL Class A or B with passenger endorsement.
- Minimum of one year experience operating passenger buses (capacity 16+).
- Ability to work rotating shifts, 7 days a week, and be on‑call when required.
- Strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
- Competent computer skills for email and reporting.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
