Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour. Paid weekly.
Shift: M-F as early as 5 a.m. to as late as 5 p.m. during training. Will transition to a 4‑day a week schedule afterward, with on‑call possibility for both business streams on days off.
Job SummaryThe Driver Route Hybrid NonCDL fills in as a Commercial non‑CDL driver in the Shred‑it and Medical Waste businesses as needed. This position covers routes when other team members are on vacation or sick, including members at remote transfer locations for both Shred‑it and Medical Waste. The driver delivers industry‑leading service to clients, manages document destruction or medical waste removal, and upholds WMHS policies, standards, and practices while embodying the company’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Performs onsite/offsite document destruction of confidential information or pick‑up and transport of medical waste.
- Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Plans daily schedule based on customers’ needs by reviewing daily paperwork such as manifest, route sheets, and previous VCR.
- May prepare and load trucks to service select accounts for the delay ensuring enough supplies are added.
- Pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day, ensuring that waste is packaged and prepared per regulations before transport.
- Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts daily, communicating any issues to the Transportation Manager, Supervisor, or Dispatcher for resolution.
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip checks and driver check‑in on assigned truck prior to leaving or closing for the day, reporting maintenance problems for follow‑up.
- Operate company equipment safely and efficiently to minimize injury and equipment damage.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws governing driver fitness and hours of service; ensure all paperwork is completed legibly, neatly, accurately, and returned for processing, and complete a DOT Driver Log if applicable.
- Maintain a high level of security when emptying consoles and/or collection totes, ensuring all documents are retrieved and containers are securely locked; service accounts using a handheld device to maintain accurate barcoding and location data.
- Communicate with Stericycle Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher regarding any changes to route pickups, address changes, or customer readiness for pickup, and inform the covering employee of any out‑of‑norm situations to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Manage assigned routes to ensure customers’ materials are collected and serviced in a timely and accurate manner.
- Handle and respond to all customer problems and inquiries expediently, acting in the best interest of both the customer and the business.
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip maintenance on assigned truck before leaving or closing for the day, reporting any maintenance issues.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Three years of experience, preferably driving shred trucks and box trucks.
- Must be 21 years old or older.
- Valid driver’s license.
- All CMV drivers must be able to obtain a medical card from a certified medical examiner.
- May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements.

This job operates in both inside garage, shop, or gas‑plant conditions as well as outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
