Requirements
  • Class A CDL with 2+ years of experience
  • 23 years of age or older
  • No serious violations in the past 3 years
  • No more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years
  • No SAP program
  • No more than 3 jobs in the past year
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English

United Scrap Metal – Driver (Long‑haul)

Over the last forty years, United Scrap Metal ("USM") has grown from $200 and a rental truck into one of the largest full‑service recyclers in the country. The primary function of the Driver is to operate various commercial vehicle and container combinations for extended periods of time, over long distances between company and customer facilities, terminals, yards and/or work sites. The Driver's main role is to pick up, transport and deliver freight in a safe and efficient manner.

Summary

of Responsibilities
  • The Driver is the single direct contact responsible for good public relations with the customers and the general public; he or she is expected to always act professionally.
  • Executes customer service requests and material logistics; reports any customer complaints immediately to the Dispatchers.
  • Drops, hooks, spots or otherwise interchanges equipment for loading or unloading at various locations; weighs all transported material entering and leaving the facility.
  • Communicates professionally (verbally and in writing) with others including company representatives, fellow Drivers, and customers.
