Primary responsibility is to coordinate the shipping/receiving of company product, prepare related documentation in an accurate and timely manner, with a focus on inventory accuracy.
Duties and Responsibilities- Perform shipping and receiving duties including completion of reports, accurately verifying quantity and condition of materials.
- Counts, weigh or measures incoming items to compare identifying information and bills of lading.
- Prepare product for shipment with accuracy of quantity, product, weight and charges.
- Review and conduct through inspection of incoming shipments.
- Schedule transportation for product by acting as a company liaison with trucking firms.
- Work directly with all departments on upcoming and forecasted shipments. Identify special circumstances such as credit holds or specific sales order instructions.
- Maintain records of customer shipping instructions and receiving packing slips, provide data to Business Development Team.
- Identify the best shipping solutions for international, new and current client base. Ensure that all customs issues are addressed prior to shipping. Verify accuracy of domestic and/or international transportation documentation and shipping specifications.
- Work directly with production personnel to verify product orders are complete prior to ship dates.
- Work with our preferred freight broker to arrange and receive deliveries and consolidate orders for cost efficiency.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Provide freight cost quotes to internal customers, including tracking/tracing information.
- Ensure inventory accuracy by cycle counting and prompt requisition.
- Comply with Company policies and procedures.
- Comply with safety programs, policies and guidelines to ensure clean, orderly and safe working conditions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storerooms and related areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and be able to present information in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience with International and domestic shipping documentation, such as USMCA, air and ocean paperwork, packing list, and Certificate of Origin.
- Prior knowledge of US Export Controls, AES, Foreign Trade Regulations, Standard practices for handling international shipments, HTS, Import Customs and Logistics.
- Knowledge of modern warehouse procedures.
- Proven experience with invoices, packing slips, bills of lading, freight tags, and the use and meaning of each; computerized warehouse record keeping systems.
- Basic level of MS Office knowledge and MS Excel preferred.
- High School Diploma preferred.
