Valid GA Driver’s License; at least 2-year clean driving record

T he Coastal Plain Regional Library System is seeking a team member to provide a critical connection between our member libraries. The courier will sort and deliver books and other library materials to and from member libraries in our five-county service area, encompassing Ben Hill, Berrien, Cook, Irwin, and Tift Counties. A successful candidate will be dependable, self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently, and consistently use safe driving practices.

The courier will pack/unpack/sort incoming and outgoing library materials and make routine deliveries to all branches. The courier will be responsible for following a reasonable schedule to ensure that materials flow smoothly between library branches. The courier will also be responsible for reporting mechanical issues, maintenance/cleaning needs of the courier vehicle. Recommended best practices must also be followed to protect library assets.

Other duties as assigned.

• Sort incoming library materials (from PINES courier) to be distributed to branch libraries
• Package items for transport through the PINES courier, following established policies and procedures
• Transport non-circulating items to/from member libraries
• Maintain a regular schedule of pick-up and delivery to all branches

• Ability to regularly load and unload cargo up to 50 pounds, maneuver in and out of a vehicle
• Ability to make decisions, use good judgment, and organize areas of responsibility
• Ability to show initiative and to work independently under general goals and guidelines
• Ability to follow and execute oral and written instructions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other library employees
• Ability to grasp, hold, and precisely manipulate library materials of various sizes and weights
