Position SummaryThe Yard Spotter is responsible for safely moving, positioning, and organizing trailers within the company yard and at designated dock doors. This position helps ensure the efficient flow of inbound and outbound shipments while maintaining a safe and organized yard.
A CDL is not required for this position, as driving is limited to company property and the designated yard area.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Safely operate a yard truck, spotter truck, or other designated equipment to move trailers throughout the facility yard.
- Position trailers at assigned loading and unloading dock doors.
- Remove trailers from dock doors and relocate them to designated yard locations.
- Conduct pre-use inspections of yard equipment and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Perform visual inspections of trailers before moving them, including checking trailer doors, landing gear, tires, and overall condition.
- Communicate with shipping, receiving, warehouse, and operations teams to coordinate trailer movements.
- Maintain an organized yard and ensure trailers are parked in designated locations.
- Monitor trailer locations and assist with tracking inbound and outbound equipment.
- Follow all company safety policies, traffic rules, and yard procedures.
- Report accidents, damage, unsafe conditions, or equipment issues immediately.
- Assist with other distribution center duties as needed.
