Key Responsibilities | Description of Duties ||  |
* Drives truck and trailer to haul logs, wood chips, or other forest products
* Applies knowledge of commercial driving and skill in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations: such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, or in tight loading/unloading areas off highway and private dirt roads
* Abides by all Company, DOT, State and Federal transportation safety regulations
* Ensures load is properly secured and weight is evenly distributed on truck and trailer
* Performs pre-trip inspection of truck and checks operating condition of truck on daily basis.
* Must be able to operate equipment to load and unload trailers.
* Obtains and transfers load slips, shipping bill of lading and necessary paperwork
* Maintains records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including driver’s logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records and other records required by the company
* Requires high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of tractor trailer and in preventing damage to materials and trailer equipment
* Must be able to communicate with supervisor and dispatcher about changing site conditions, routes, paperwork and restrictions, that may arise
* Upload all necessary documentation into Samsara IAW the MFP Driver Upload SOP || Qualifications | || Required |
* Must have a valid Class A CDL driver’s license, current DOT physical examination card, and a clean DMV record
* At least one year of over the road experience; log hauling experience is preferred
* Must meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening; subject to random drug testing as required by DOT ||
