Bus Operator

The City of Hinesville is accepting applications for a Bus Operator. This role involves providing transportation services for the publicin a safe and reliable manner. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to safely operating and properly maneuvering various types of vehicles,transporting demand-response passengers, providing excellent customer service,and performing additional tasks as assigned.

• Knowledge of all traffic, City, State and Federal laws and regulations
• Demonstrates extensive knowledge of operating vehicles including pre/post trip inspection of equipment and submission ofdaily trip summaries while working with the public
• Operates public transit vehicles to provide safe and timely transportation for the public and special populations on theCity’s demand-response and fixed route service
• Assist people with mobility devices to boardand alight from the vehicle and to secure their mobility device inside the vehicle
• Knowledge of the geography of the City of Hinesville, City of Flemington, City of Walthourville and Ft. Stewart
• Ability to make independent judgements whichhave moderate impacts on the organization
• Ability to read and write to complete required reports and records
• Ability to operate a two-way radio in accordance with internal operating procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Minimum qualifications include the ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.

Sufficient experience to understand basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having held a similar position for one or twoyears. Must maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s license. Must be able to pass apre-employment Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screen and physical. The minimum starting is $40,737.18 plus an excellent benefits package. The position closes on October 2, 2026, at 5:00p.m.
