- Grantsburg, WI 54840## Overview Education Level High School/GEDTravel Percentage None Category Retail ## Description This position serves as a Forklift Operator with the primary responsibility of safely operating a forklift to assemble loads and move materials while also serving as a backup Dispatcher to support delivery scheduling and coordination as needed.
** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
**** Forklift Operation
*** Safely operate a forklift to move, load, and unload materials within the yard and for customer deliveries.
* Pull job tickets and select materials to fulfill orders and assemble them in the staging area.
* Band and identify/tag loads with accurate customer information.
* Enter accurate inventory counts into the computer system as required.
* Load banded materials onto delivery trucks.
* Communicate with drivers regarding order details and any additions to loads.
* Unload incoming materials from trucks and rail cars.
* Stage and stock materials in designated areas.
* Restock customer returns and pull materials from overstock to replenish inventory.
* Perform routine maintenance checks on forklifts and other equipment; report any issues to the manager and maintenance team.
* Keep equipment clean and in good working condition.
* Remove bands, scrap lumber, and trash from the yard; maintain the overall appearance of the lumberyard.
* Safely operate front-end loaders, forklifts, and pickup trucks for snow removal (seasonal). May also use manual equipment (snow shovels, snow blowers, etc.).
** Backup Dispatcher Responsibilities
*** Provide backup support for the Operations Manager as needed.
* Assist with coordinating daily deliveries and pickups of building materials.
* Assist with scheduling and prioritizing deliveries based on customer needs, driver availability, and operational requirements.
* Communicate with drivers regarding delivery schedules, route changes, order details, and special instructions.
* Communicate with salespeople, operations staff, customers, and other locations regarding delivery and order status.
* Assist with coordinating the staging of orders to support efficient loading and delivery.
* Assist with managing paperwork and system information related to deliveries, pickups, and returns.
* Assist with coordinating the transfer of inventory between locations as needed.
* Use the company's operating system (e.g., Bistrack) to access and update orders, inventory, delivery information, and customer information.
* Help identify and communicate delivery issues, delays, or changes to the appropriate team members.
* Complete other duties as assigned.
** ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Safely operate other equipment, such as chain saws and banding machines.
* Comply with all personal protective equipment policies.
* Participate in the inventory management process.
* Complete other duties as assigned.## Qualifications
** EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
*** High School Diploma or GED required.
* 3–12 months of previous experience in the lumber industry preferred.
* 12 months of previous stocking/forklift experience preferred.
* Previous dispatch, delivery coordination, or logistics experience preferred.
* Forklift certification required.

** PHYSICAL DEMANDS
*** Ability to lift and carry 50–75 lbs. (100 lbs. occasionally).
