Neogen is looking for a full-time Shipping Clerk to join our fast-paced Mount Sterling team. Our shipping clerk will use RF scanners and multiple types of material handling equipment to effectively pick and pack orders, ensuring accuracy for our customers. We offer a first‑shift team environment, ongoing training and full benefits to all of our shipping team members. Due to the physicality of the position, candidates should be comfortable in hot and cold environments, have the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, and be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
Shift: 1st Shift
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Shipping (80% Time)- Pull orders and screen for accuracy prior to pulling inventory.
- Operate scanning equipment proficiently.
- Pull small parcel and truck orders in a timely and economical fashion according to written procedure.
- Manage shipping expenses to minimize packaging costs while ensuring good customer presentation.
- Pull packaging slip and place with pulled inventory prior to quality check.
- Identify process improvements that will lead to greater efficiencies in the shipping operations.
- Unload shipment from carrier and ensure that the shipment reconciles with proper paperwork.
- Process received shipments according to written procedures.
- Identify process improvements that will lead to greater efficiencies in the receiving operations.
- Provide input to Supervisor on ways to improve the warehouse to be more economical to pick and ship from.
- Monitor inventory levels and advise Supervisor of low inventories of product.
- Organize storage of products to facilitate efficient picking of product for shipping customer shipments.
- Ensure finished products are properly stored according to product label and inventory control procedures.
- Complete miscellaneous projects assigned by the Supervisor.
- Work with all employees to maintain a safe, clean and orderly warehousing environment.
- Perform daily check list on all forklifts in warehouse.
- Assist with physical inventory.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to interface with management regarding duties and future development of department.
- Minimal experience with shipping and operating a forklift.
- Read, analyze and interpret common shipping reports and regulatory documents regarding shipping.
- Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
- Effectively present information to lower level management.
- Work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and averaging.
- Some experience with UPS World Ship online with the ability to learn more.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
