Responsibilities
  • Lead and work alongside yard personnel, assigning daily priorities for loading, unloading, staging, material movement, and yard organization.
  • Coordinate daily shipping activities with the Logistics Manager and field teams to ensure materials and fabricated components are staged, loaded, and shipped according to project priorities.
  • Safely load and unload trucks using forklifts and approved material-handling equipment, including handling loads weighing up to 10,000 pounds.
  • Verify load weight, balance, stability, securement, placement, and staging sequence to support safe transportation, unloading, and field installation.
  • Prepare accurate shipping lists, bills of lading (BOLs), and related documentation, ensuring physical loads match shipping records before trucks are released.
  • Document quantities, job information, shortages, substitutions, and special shipping or unloading requirements and communicate discrepancies to the appropriate teams.
  • Maintain timely communication with the Logistics Manager and field personnel regarding shipment status, expected arrival, delays, shortages, and changing priorities.
  • Anticipate labor, equipment, staging, and scheduling needs and address or elevate potential conflicts before they affect shipments.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized yard that allows materials and finished components to be efficiently located, handled, and shipped.
  • Conduct required equipment inspections and ensure forklifts and other material-handling equipment are operated within rated capacities and company safety requirements.
  • Ensure employees follow required PPE, material-handling, load-securement, and yard safety procedures, stopping work and notifying management when unsafe conditions exist.
  • Coach and hold yard personnel accountable for safety, accuracy, productivity, communication, and completion of assigned responsibilities.

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb on and off equipment, trucks, and trailers.
  • Frequently use hands and arms to handle materials, straps, chains, blocking, paperwork, and equipment controls.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required, using appropriate assistance or mechanical equipment when necessary.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment in an active industrial yard.
  • Requires sufficient vision and depth perception to judge distance, clearance, load position, equipment movement, and surrounding hazards.
  • Requires sufficient hearing and communication ability to work safely around trucks, forklifts, and other industrial equipment.
  • Ability to work on uneven ground and remain physically active throughout the workday.
