Job Description 3rd Shift Openings Position SummaryThe Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, staging, and transportation of raw materials, packaging components, finished goods, and production-related materials throughout the facility. This position ensures that work orders are accurately picked, verified, transferred, and documented to support manufacturing and warehouse operations.
The Forklift Operator plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production schedules, and ensuring timely material movement. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced in operating various types of powered industrial trucks in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment in accordance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Transport raw materials, packaging components, finished goods, and other inventory throughout the facility.
- Stage materials for production according to work orders and production schedules.
- Load, unload, and transfer materials between warehouse, production, and storage locations.
- Complete material movements accurately and efficiently while minimizing product damage and inventory discrepancies.
- Inspect forklifts before each shift and report equipment issues immediately.
- Accurately pick, verify, count, and transfer materials based on work orders and production requirements.
- Verify inbound, returned, and relabeled materials before placing them into inventory.
- Ensure all inventory transactions are processed accurately and timely using warehouse management systems and scanners.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by following established inventory control procedures.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as required.
- Support warehouse organization and proper storage practices.
- Utilize barcode scanners, warehouse management systems (WMS), and ERP systems to complete inventory transactions.
- Verify documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain records of material movements and inventory transactions.
- Report inventory discrepancies, material shortages, or damaged products to supervision.
- Follow all OSHA, Cal/OSHA, company safety policies, and warehouse operating procedures.
- Adhere to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with Warehouse, Production, Planning, Inventory Control, and Quality teams to support business objectives.
- Assist with receiving, shipping, staging, and warehouse projects as needed.
- Support departmental goals related to safety, inventory accuracy, productivity, and customer service.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year of forklift operating experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating various types of forklifts and powered industrial trucks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic understanding of inventory control and warehouse operations.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, material requests, and warehouse instructions.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using barcode scanners and warehouse management systems.
- Strong mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems such as QAD or similar warehouse management platforms.
- Experience supporting production operations through material staging and inventory transactions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb throughout the workday.
- Ability to sit and operate a forklift for extended periods.
- Ability to work safely around moving machinery, warehouse equipment, and forklift traffic.
- Ability to perform repetitive movement and material handling activities.
- Clean, temperature-controlled warehouse environment.
- Moderate to heavy forklift and warehouse traffic.
- Moderate noise levels from forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Frequent interaction with warehouse, production, and inventory control personnel.
- Fast-paced manufacturing and distribution environment.
