Design Engineer - Kentwood Area

Salary Range: $73,000 - $112,000 depending on experience

• Develop and optimize product designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings.
• Conduct design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) analyses.
• Select appropriate materials and components based on functional requirements and manufacturing processes.
• Support the prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs and product improvements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to resolve design‑related issues.
• Generate and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including BOMs and specifications.

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, Inventor) for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, materials science, and stress analysis.
• Experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Ability to apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to engineering drawings.
• Proven problem‑solving skills with a focus on optimizing designs for performance, cost, and reliability.

• Experience with advanced simulation software (e.g., FEA, CFD).
• Hands‑on experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of designs.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proficiency in a programming language (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for design automation or data analysis.
