Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Kentwood, MI

Salary Range: $62,000 - $95,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Conduct regular EHS inspections and audits to identify hazards and assess risks.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide EHS training to employees on various topics, including hazard communication, emergency response, and machine guarding.
• Manage hazardous waste programs, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and disposal.
• Maintain accurate EHS records and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with production teams to integrate EHS considerations into manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related science/engineering field.
• 3+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
• Experience with developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• Proven ability to conduct EHS training, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification
• Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems
• Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI) for EHS metrics
• Bilingual in Spanish or other languages prevalent in the local workforce
