Position Summary
The Tank Wash Technician is responsible for cleaning hazardous, non-hazardous, and food‑grade tanker trailers, on‑site remediation, cleanup, equipment de‑contamination, and handling of hazardous materials.
Responsibilities- Ensure health and safety is the top priority by following policies and acting safely at all times.
- Operate light and heavy equipment such as pumps, compressors, boilers, bobcats, forklifts, and other industrial tools.
- Handle hand tools and powered industrial tools, including pressure washers.
- Notify the supervisor of any mechanical failure or equipment problem immediately.
- Adhere to and ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety regulations, DOT regulations, EPA waste codes, and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR).
- Wear and use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Assist in field sampling activities and meter calibration.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Report directly to the Tank Wash Manager.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Six or more months of industry‑related experience.
- Preferred:
Confined‑space entry (CSE) training. - Preferred:
Experience with DOT regulations, EPA waste codes, manifesting, and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR). - Knowledge of cleaning chemicals.
- Completed computer‑module safety training, including on‑the‑job training.
- Solid communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Adaptable and flexible in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong customer‑service orientation, meeting needs and deadlines.
- Positive, proactive, and motivated attitude.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficient English (reading, writing, and speaking).
The role requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to feel and reach, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Lifting and carrying up to 50lbs. and climbing ladders or stairs for cleaning duties. Work extended (>8 hrs.) periods. Requires frequent draining, connecting and disconnecting hoses, and pressure washing. Requires repetitive motion of operating a manual chain fall. Requires monitoring of cleaning solution strengths and performing routine maintenance and emergency repairs.
Must maintain a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold while wearing a range of PPE. Work with cleaning chemicals, potential noise, confined spaces, low‑clearance areas, elevation, up to eight feet above ground, and sometimes in other areas directed by management.
